Executive Team Biographical Information

Nathan L. McCartney, President, CEO


Nathan was raised in the construction business and has over 24 years of real estate development and executive construction management experience. In 1995, he began his professional career as a consultant for Morgan Stanley, focusing on real estate investment trusts and emerging markets. In 1998 he began building residential and commercial projects on his own. As a successful real estate developer, construction project manager and partner, Mr. McCartney’s portfolio includes over $800M in residential multifamily, assisted living, hospitality, mixed use, industrial and local government projects. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, studied at University of Texas’ McCombs Executive MBA program and has completed over 200 accredited hours of development and construction project management coursework.

Chad Huffer, Partner, COO, Director of Construction


With over 25 years of multifamily and senior care construction management experience, Chad Huffer serves as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Construction for American Midrise Partners, LLC. Chad provides overall management and direction for projects and serves as liaison with clients, architects, and engineers to facilitate preconstruction and construction contract activities. Chad is also responsible for managing financial aspects of projects, hiring and directing on-site superintendents, owner relations, order management, drawing revisions and coordinating project schedules. Chad’s career includes managing projects for TX-Morrow, KWA, Adolfson & Peterson, ICI, and H&N Construction.

Joe Gonzalez, Chief Financial Officer, Attorney/ CPA,


Obtaining dual licensing as an Attorney and CPA, Joe brings with him a diverse financial and legal background including expertise in real estate related transactions and business Law. As Chief Financial Officer and advisor, he is responsible for long term financial planning, reporting and data analysis as well as maintaining relationships with lenders and overseeing accounting staff.  Joe Graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Doctor of Jurisprudence/ Juris Doctor (J.D).

Keith Thomas, LEED AP, ACCE Managing Director, Special Projects


Keith Thomas serves as institutional and special projects leader for multifamily senior care, medical and aviation construction activities. Responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of multiple project schedules, budgets, quality, risk assessments and governmental communications. Mr. Thomas is also responsible for development and management of constructability plans and issues including site utilization, construction equipment selection, and subcontractor/trade coordination and organization. Prior to American Midrise, Keith has over 27 years’ institutional project team management experience with Linbeck Group and has Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jason Valerius, Senior Project Manager, Construction Specialist


Mr. Valerius has vast and diversified professional experience in multifamily and institutional construction industries as a senior construction project manager.  He holds a degree in Engineering and has managed over $450M in construction projects, successfully implementing plans with efficiency and quality.  As Senior Project Manager, his responsibilities include design review, project structuring, contract review, subcontractor procurement and construction management.  Construction Management scope includes dirt work, utilities, paving, vertical construction and build-out, bringing projects in on time and under budget.  Jason has earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Construction Degree from Texas Tech University.
